Movement songs are an excellent way to work on specific gross motor skills such as:
1) Bilateral integration- the ability to use both sides of your body together in a coordinated way.
2) Midline crossing- the ability to reach across the middle of the body with the arms and legs crossing over to the opposite side.
3) Proprioception- the hidden sense in the joints that tell the brain where your limbs are in relation to each other in space.
4) Vestibular sense- contributes to our ability to maintain balance and body posture.
